A recent rumor made many Xbox One and potential Xbox Scarlett fans happy as it claimed that Microsoft might revive a popular franchise. Several reports mentioned that Microsoft would release a new Banjo-Kazooie game.
After Bajo-Kazooei made an appearance in Super Smash Bros Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch, many thought that Microsoft might decide to reboot the franchise. Playtonic, the developers of Yooka-Laylee, would have worked on the game, and the studio may have been bought by the Redmond company.
An official press release offered by Playtonic will crush any hopes since the studio stated that they are not working on a new Banjo-Kazooie game, and it will also remain independent. However, the studio is willing to work on a Banjo-Kazooie title in the future, if Microsoft wants to collaborate with them.
It is important to note that even if a studio would like to work on a video game, they cannot do this freely unless they own the IP. Some fans believe that Microsoft may have contacted another studio for the project, but there is little to no proof that could support the hypothesis.
It is thought that more information could be announced during an upcoming Microsoft event. X019 will take place in London, the UK, from November 14 to November 16 at the Copper Box Arena. The event will be the biggest Xbox event to take place in the UK and Microsoft has been hard at work on speeding the hype train.
A special Inside Xbox section could offer interesting announcements, including new video games announcements, more data about Xbox Scarlett, or even details about Project xCloud. The latter will offer users the option to stream Xbox games on a variety of low-power devices, among which we can count Android smartphones or tablets.
Microsoft could announce a large selection of interesting exclusives, especially after acquiring a lot of great developers in recent years.
