‘Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies’ Set – Riot Reveals New Origins: Star Guardians, Cybernetic and Mech-Pilot

We’ve seen Riot Games’ latest tease on the new set that will be called Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies in their DEV post. Since Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies is going to be launched in mid-March both on the League client and for TFT Mobile users, Riot has prepared a few more announcements on the mechanics that we’ll see in the new set.

Today, we learn more about the new Origins in Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies and how they work.

Next week we will see more updates on Set 3 from Riot, so make sure to check back on our Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies page to keep up with all the news! Read more details on Riot’s Dev post here.

Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies – Origins

We’ve spotted new origins and classes such as Star Guardian, Vanguard, Mech Pilot, Sorcerer, Cybernetic, Mana-Reaver, Celestial, Chrono, Rebel, and Valkyrie. However, Riot has only talked about Star Guardian, Cybernetic and Mech Pilot, revealing synergies and the mechanics behind each comp, along with what they can be combined with. We’ve got to say that it sounds pretty exciting!

Star Guardians

The Star Guardians trait looks a bit like the ocean origin in terms of providing mana. However, the bonus works differently. If you get six Star Guardians, they will all receive mana every time each Star Guardian casts a spell. This means you can mix Star Guardians with other casters!

Here’s an example of Star Guardians comp from Riot:

Comp: 6 Star Guardian, 4 Sorcerer

  • Trait Effect: Whenever a Star Guardian casts their spell, distribute (3) 20 mana (6) 30 mana among all the other Star Guardians.
    • Poppy – Tier 1 (Star Guardian/Vanguard): Tanky Frontliner
    • Zoe – Tier 1 (Star Guardian/Sorcerer): Ranged CC
    • Ahri – Tier 2 (Star Guardian/Sorcerer): Ranged Spell Damage
    • Neeko – Tier 3 (Star Guardian/Protector): AOE CC
    • Syndra – Tier 3 (Star Guardian/Sorcerer): Ranged Spell Damage
    • Soraka – Tier 4 (Star Guardian/Mystic): Team Healing
  • Sorcerer: All allies gain (2) +15% (4) +40% (6) +120% increased Spell Power
    • Annie – Tier 2 (Mech Pilot/Sorcerer): Frontline Spell Damage

How the Comp Works

Riot explains this Star Guardian comp requires Level 7 and boosts the team with 40% spell power. With Poppy and Annie as a reliable frontline, Neeko CCs and the massive damage from Ahri and Syndra, this composition will surely be a Tier S.

Moreover, it’s easy to understand, since players need to get all the Star Guardians and then add sorcerers. If you’re looking for a more reliable frontline, you can go Protector or try Mystic to protect against comps that use a lot of spell damage.

Tear of the Goddess and the Spatula will now turn any champion into a Star Guardian (instead of the Mage in Set 2).

Cybernetic

Another interesting origin is Cybernetic. Riot says the origin is flexible since you can go either 3 or 6 for the full buff.

Here’s Riot example of a composition with Cybernetic:

Comp: 6 Blademaster, 3 Cybernetic

  • Trait Effect: Cybernetic champions with an item equipped gain (3) 300 health & 30 attack damage (6) 800 health & 80 attack damage.
    • Leona – Tier 1 (Cybernetic/Vanguard): Tanky frontliner
    • Fiora – Tier 1 (Cybernetic/Blademaster): Fragile Melee DPS
    • Irelia – Tier 4 (Cybernetic/Mana-Reaver/Blademaster): Melee DPS
  • Blademaster: Blademasters have a (3) 25% (6) 50% chance on hit to attack two extra times.
    • Xayah – Tier 1 (Celestial/Blademaster): Ranged DPS
    • Shen – Tier 2 (Chrono/Blademaster): Tanky frontliner
    • Yasuo – Tier 2 (Rebel/Blademaster): Melee DPS
    • Kayle – Tier 4 (Valkyrie/Blademaster): Ranged DPS

How the Comp Works

The comp will work if you choose two carries and place items on them. For instance, it is recommended to add items on Leona and Fiora in early game or keep them for late game to make Irelia the carry. With 6 Blademaster Buff, Irelia will be unstoppable (better nerf Irelia, right?).

Cybernetic comes with a new mechanic which is very strong if you place an item on each champion. Riot expects Cybernetic to be one of the most popular three-piece Origins in set 3.

Mech-Pilot

This is the most exciting Origin Riot thought of when they came up with the Galaxies theme. Here’s how it works and how it can be combined:

Comp: 3 Mech-Pilot, 4 Sorcerer, 3 Star Guardian, 2 Demolitionist

  • Mech-Pilot: (3) At the start of combat, three Mech-Pilot champs are merged into a Super Mech until it dies.
    • Annie – Tier 2 (Mech Pilot/Sorcerer): Frontline Spell Damage
    • Rumble – Tier 3 (Mech Pilot/Demolitionist): Frontline Spell Damage
    • Fizz – Tier 4 (Mech Pilot/Infiltrator): Backline CC & Damage
  • Demolitionist: (2) Demolitionist’s spells stun for 2.5 seconds.
    • Ziggs – Tier 1 (Rebel/Demolitionist): Ranged Spell Damage
  • Sorcerer: All allies gain (2) +15% (4) +40% (6) +120% increased Spell Power
    • Zoe – Tier 1 (Star Guardian/Sorcerer): Ranged CC spell
    • Ahri – Tier 2 (Star Guardian/Sorcerer): Ranged Spell Damage
    • Syndra – Tier 3 (Star Guardian/Sorcerer): Ranged Spell Damage

How the Comp Works

The Super Mech is actually the Mecha Garen skin from League of Legends:

You will make Annie, Rumble, and Fizz your Super-Mech, which is a very tanky mech that gains all the traits and stats from the three pilots.  Try to make them higher stars to improve the mech, The Super-Mech can use up to three items, which means you have to think through your itemization strategy.

Add 4 sorcerers and the mechs will have 40% spell power – see how his AOE spell will stun every enemy champion on the board for 2.5 seconds!

The idea behind the giant mech works because it causes some massive destruction with its huge spell. What are the best items or traits it synergizes? Players will have to find out on their own! But don’t think the Super-Mech is immune to CC – everything has to be balanced, after all.

This week will be exciting for Teamfight Tactics players since Riot plans to reveal what they had learned about Rise of the Elements (set 2), and we’ll probably get a few more hints about the incoming set. We should also get ready to see the new content in the PBE client! Check back here next week to learn more about Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies!
