It is nearly the end of the year and Valve has revealed their best selling games of the year. On their Twitter account, the company has announced their top seller, most played, top new releases and other lists that you can check here.
The great thing about these lists is that some of those games are on sale and if you have been planning on getting one of them, this is your chance.
Here’s the list of the best selling games in 2019 that have reached the Platinum rank. While there aren’t any details on the numbers sold of each game, the ranks have been generated by gross revenue over the past 12 months, this is why even free-to-play games or classics are on the list.
Best Selling Games in 2019 – Platinum Rank
- Total War: Three Kingdoms
- Destiny 2
- The Elder Scrolls Online
- Dota 2
- PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
- Monster Hunter World
- Grand Theft Auto 5
- Rainbow Six Siege
- Civilization VI
- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is also the winner of the Game of the Year award at The Game Awards 2019.
As for Monster Hunter: World, we think the Iceborne expansion contributed to its position in the list, and so did Civilization 6‘s Gathering Storm and The Elder Scrolls Online‘s Elseweyr expansions.
Aside from the new titles – Sekiro and Total War – the others are older games that have made it to the top through expansions, microtransactions and season passes. This means that publishers will continue to make games that include a live service strategy to keep the money coming. Nonetheless, even games that offer a singular experience, such as Sekiro and Death Stranding, can make it to the top if they earn enough critical acclaim.
Best Selling Games in 2019 – Gold Rank
Back to our game lists, here are some of the ones that reached the Gold rank.
While other games didn’t make it in the platinum rank, other classics stood their grounds and made it to the gold rank. We’re talking about games such as Devil May Cry 5, The Witcher 3, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Mordau, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Resident Evil 2 and others.
