The Nvidia RTX 3080 is a unique graphics card. The most impressive thing about it is that it’s nearly guaranteed that it will be featured inside of a high power gaming laptop.
The good news is that a 3080-powered laptop might be coming sooner than expected, as a new leak suggests.
Harukazake5719, a leaker, tweeted an image that revealed the specifications of what looked like a future generation of gaming laptops with mobile versions of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3060, 3070, and 3080.
The 3060 hasn’t yet been announced as a desktop graphics card.
We hope that the new graphics cars’ arrival will lead to an upgrade of the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 or Razer Blade 15!
The cards presented in the leak looked mostly like “Max-Q” variants of the desktop RTX 3000-series GPU family.
Max-Q translates to slightly decreasing the graphics card’s performance and energy consumption to stop it from eating away at a laptop’s battery in a matter of minutes or from getting too hot at times when the performance demand is high.
The cards presented in the leak don’t seem to be “Max-P” versions of the RTX3060 listed in the leak. While the term “Max-Q” officially exists in Nvidia’s repertoire, Max-P doesn’t.
However, it’s thought that “Max-P” stands for “max performance,” and thus suggests that the laptop’s graphics card is a full-power version with no decrease in power for any particular reason.
However, we don’t know how reliable the leaker is, so you must take the information with a pinch of salt, at least for the moment. Stay tuned to learn more about Nvidia’s newest laptop GPUs!
