Samsung’s Unpacked Event to Reveal Five ‘Power’ Devices

Samsung is set to showcase a lot of new content at its Galaxy Unpacked event that is scheduled to take place on August 5th.

Mobile division President TM Roh has confirmed that the tech giant will reveal five ‘power devices’ during the virtual event. Although he gave no specifics, he did hint at earbuds and a smartwatch besides the smartphones.

As drafted, there are many clues as to what to expect. The superstar would be the Galaxy S20 series, the most recent range of Samsung’s pen-toting flagship phones. It is rumored to come in the 6.7-inch standard and 6.9-inch Plus and Ultra versions, all of which would have flatter displays that the Note 20 series, as well as bigger camera bumps.

These camera modules could feature a 108MP main sensor on the Plus and Ultra variants, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and probably on the Ultra a 13MP periscope camera for long-range captures.

You could also expect functions and features passed down from the Galaxy S20 series, such as the Snapdragon 865 chipset, 12GB or more RAM, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. There may also be bigger batteries, for instance, 4,300 mAh for the base model, and a minimum of 256GB of storage space.

What Else Should We Expect at Samsung’s Event?

Samsung’s plans beyond the Note series could be more thrilling. The tech giant has already teased a next-generation foldable phone, most probably the Galaxy Z Fold 2, for the event. It is speculated to be a small but welcome development of the original, with a bigger 6.2-inch external display, a 120Hz 7.7-inch internal display, and camera technology similar to that on the Note 20.

There should be some wearables, as well. The Galaxy Bugs Live would be Samsung’s next-generation of true wireless earbuds with a ‘bean’ design, active noise cancelation, and built-in fitness tracking. In the meantime, the Galaxy Watch 3 could upgrade Samsung’s high-end smartwatch with a slightly smaller case than the original model, and features taken from the Watch Active 2.
