Xiaomi has been releasing Android 10 stable updates for its budget Redmi lineup since last month, starting with the Redmi 7A.
After some time, Xiaomi started releasing Android 10 for Redmi 8.
The Redmi 8A appears to be next in line, as a lot of users from China reported that they received the new update.
The Redmi 8A is the third device from the Redmi 8 lineup to receive the Android 10 update. The first two devices that received it were the Redmi 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro.
Just like in the past, the update is first available for Chinese versions of the devices.
About The Update
The Android 10 stable update bears the build number V220.127.116.11.QCPCNXM and July 2020 security patch.
It is believed that similar build will be available for other variants of the handset, regardless of region.
Additionally, that might be the last Android update for the phone. Thankfully, it is eligible for MIUI 12, which might be released sometime in August or September.
Xiaomi makes some of the best-selling smartphones worldwide.
Still, the Redmi Note 8 hasn’t yet received the update, and the same goes for the Redmi 8A Pro.
We expect the pair of smartphones to be the next in line for the big update.
It is impressive to see how much Xiaomi evolved over the past decade, from a brand that few people outside China knew of to a brand that holds a significant share of the mobile market.
However, many users are not pleased that they receive only an Android update during their device’s life cycle. Having an outdated operating system works for a while, but not having access to the latest security patch can have significant consequences.
