It seems that, according to the latest rumors, the PS5 game cartridge design could be moving away from the traditional disc.
According to the latest data coming from HyperBeast, which cites new reports, Sony could be developing a game cartridge for the PlayStation 5.
The online publication writes that “The rumors come after a design was discovered in a series of patents the Japanese electronics company recently filed. The reports now that “the application is internationally categorized as Class 14.99, with the description ‘Miscellaneous’, or ‘Miscellaneous’. In Japan, however, this classification is described as ‘Electronic game accessories’.”
More than that, it’s been also revealed that the inventor of the design is reportedly Yujin Morisawa who is the senior art director of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The design inventor is responsible for all the products that are associated with the PlayStation and this sparks rumors that the game cartridge is for the PS5.

PS4 owners are advised to upgrade to PS5
In other PS5-related news, it’s been reported that the online publication BGR reported that during an interview with Games Industry, PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan said that Sony is preparing for a massive launch in 2020.
More than that, the tech giant “wants to transition its PS4 customers to the next version as soon and as fast as possible.”
You probably know that the PS5 availability has not been announced yet, but there are enough people who have been analyzing the upgrade.
Ryan might have answered some of the most popular questions regarding the new console.
He continued and explained: “As we move towards the next-generation in 2020, one of our tasks — probably our main task — is to take that community and transition it from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, and at a scale and pace that we’ve never delivered on before.”
He also said that upgrading to the PS5 should be the thing to do.
