The Phantom Thieves are back with new character Kasumi in Persona 5 Royal and, an original theme as a bonus. All the original Persona 5 DLC will be free for all the players. In Persona 5 Royal, there are two additional Confidants: Kasumi Yoshizawa, an accomplished rhythmic gymnast who transferred to Shujin at the same time as the protagonist and later become a Phantom Thief with codename Violet.
After defeating Yaldabaoth, Sae asks the protagonist to turn himself in. Before the protagonist gives his answer, Akechi reveals himself to be alive and willingly turns himself in as the perpetrator of the mental shutdown incident, sparing the protagonist from having to be sent to the juvenile hall.
At New Year, the protagonist senses oddities surrounding him, which becomes evident when the next day he discovers Morgana as a human and Futaba’s mother and Haru’s father are alive.
Persona 5 was developed by P-Studio, an internal development studio within Atlus led by game director and producer Katsura Hashino. The game shipped over three million copies worldwide by the end of 2019, making it the best-selling entry in the overall Megami Tensei franchise.
Persona 5 Royal and The Phantom Thieves
As the number of the Phantom Thieves’ members and successes grows, they attract the attention of the public and police, including public prosecutor Sae Nijima and detective Goro Akechi.
The Phantom Thieves learn that another secret group, including a black-masked assassin, is using the Metaverse to murder their targets and are framing them for the killings. In their pursuit of the conspiracy, the group is joined by Akechi, who is revealed to be the black-masked assassin.
Escaping into hiding with Sae’s help, the Phantom Thieves deduce that the conspiracy’s leader is politician Masayoshi Shido, who has been using Akechi’s ability to infiltrate the Metaverse to remove obstacles to becoming Prime Minister and imposing his reforms on Japan.
