We all know that Netflix is one of the most popular streaming platforms out there. Its library is vast, and it is more significant than its competitors. They add new content every month, which means that they are continually expanding their library. New Netflix original movies and TV shows will launch soon. Many more will come out in the upcoming years, too.
Why Netflix is different than its competitors?
The platform is very popular in India, and it is trying to be better than Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Hotstar, and many other services out there, like Disney Plus, HBO, and Apple TV. Netflix is the only platform out there that has viewing plans based on the quality of the video, and even a separate plan for people who are watching Netflix on their phones.
As per some news reports, Netflix is currently testing a better quality, HD videos for Basic and Phone plans. The video quality for Phone and the Basic idea was SD, 480p.
A Netflix insider stated that: We are always looking for ways in which to make the Netflix experience more immersive and enjoyable for our members. At the moment, this is a test, and might not be rolled out widely.” We have also heard that Netflix was planning on giving the first-month subscription for just Rs. 5 to all new subscribers.
Why has Netflix decided to change its mobile and basic plans?
Netflix is going with this step, probably because of its tight competition in India. Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and Hotstar do not have restrictions when it comes to the quality of the video across different plans. For a streaming service like Netflix, a test could do good, with viewers getting used to the HD quality. This way, they might also want to go for a more expensive plan.
