LG Electronics has revealed its 2020 K series of mobile phones, composed out of the K61, K51S, and the K41S. The three mid-range smartphones are packing upgraded cameras and multimedia features.
The South Korean tech giant said that the lineup had been given an overall enhancement. Coming with advanced and more performant functionalities that first appeared in the company’s premium mobile devices, the three new smartphones provide consumers the possibility to acquire a decent device in today’s mega-competitive mid-range field where LG has tried to remain relevant.
Straying Relevant in a Competitive Industry
Similar to numerous other smartphone manufacturers, and in a similar way, Samsung has tried with its Galaxy S20 series, LG is heavily relying on camera technology in order to sell its devices this year.
Each mobile phone included in the K series packs a rear quad camera setup, which has a high-resolution main camera, a wide-angle lens, and a depth sensor, as well as a macro lens, which is a first in the K lineup. The 48MP main lens in the K61, the premium model of the series, is the highest resolution camera ever provided by LG in its smartphones.
With 108MP sensors now offered by Xiaomi and Samsung, a 48MP sensor is not such a bid deal in the flagship category anymore, but in the mid-range devices, it is a more than decent surprise. The 32MP camera offered by the K51S is also overpowering the pixel figures of any prior LG smartphone. The tech giant stated in a press release that the new K lineup provides users with the ‘ideal camera for any situation, capturing the magic of the moment has never been so easy or fun.’
The most expensive phone in the lineup, the K61, packs a 6.5-inch, 19:5:9, FHD+ Full Vision display, and the second most expensive device, the LG K51S, has a 6.5-inch, 20:9, HD+ FullVision display. Both devices feature a punch-hole camera.
The LG K41S packs a 6.5-inch, 20:9, HD+ FullVision display. All three smartphones are created with cinematically balanced displays, and have much thinner bezels in comparison to their predecessors, in order to enhance the user experience.
Impressive Features for Mid-Range Devices
Other features of the LG K lineup of 2020 include a 4,000 mAh battery, DTS:X 3D Surround Sound for an immersive 7.1-channel experience with headphones. The MIL-STD-810G standard for durability will definitely add to the devices’ appeal for those eager to upgrade their smartphone without spending a lot of money.
LG did not say anything about the Android version the new K series will function on, but we assume that it is Android 10. Packing Android 9 under the hood in 2020 would be a rather odd move, even when it comes to mid-range phones, more so for a company like LG.
“The key value propositions of LG’s K series are advanced technologies and competitive pricing,” said Chang Ma, senior vice president of the product strategy group at LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “We believe the K series will be the most competitive smartphones in its category, offering features consumers really appreciate.”
LG’s new K lineup of devices will be available starting with Q2 2020 in the United States, followed by a few select markets in Europe and Asia.
