More than 26 years have passed since the first game in The Elder Scrolls franchise was launched. The action RPG created and published by Bethesda Game Studios has since sold over 58 million copies all over the world, which makes it one of the most played titles in the history.
Fans of the game have been patiently waiting for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim to appear, but after Bethesda unveiled a trailer back in 2018 at E3, numerous rumors and speculations have surfaced regarding an Elder Scrolls 6 release date. Still, the gaming studio has kept silent, which left numerous players wondering whether there will actually be a sixth sequel to the popular series.
The Elder Scrolls 6 Will Launch
Todd Howard from Bethesda had confirmed the launch of The Elder Scrolls 6 when he presented the teaser at E3 2018. However, the gaming studio has not once mentioned anything about the exact release date or year of the installment.
As a matter of fact, Howard hinted that players would have to wait some more. This is most likely because the developers are now concentrated on developing Starfield, the studio’s latest game, which is scheduled to launch before The Elder Scrolls 6. There is no release date for Starfield yet, which means that it is still under development.
“We had done so many things; we were going Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Fallout… You have this Starfield game in your head, you sort of say, well, when? It can be never, you could say never. But look, we’re creative, and it’s like we have to make this game, and this is the time. So Elder Scrolls 6 is going to have to wait a little bit,” Howard said.
With a lot going on at Bethesda, it will definitely take a few months or a year before a launch date for The Elder Scrolls 6 will be announced. A sign was the job openings at the gaming studio some fans have spotted at the beginning of this year, which is good news. This could mean that the developing team could already be completing the work on Starfield and may begin developing The Elder Scrolls 6 soon.
