How to Fix iPhone Touchscreen Issues

From time to time, the touch screen of the iPhone will respond slowly, or will completely freeze. If you’re wondering how you can fix this problem, we are here to help you. What is happening with my touch screen, you may ask. It usually happens because of software issues. But sometimes it is also because of the hardware assembly with the front camera. If the software causes the problems, we can help you.

How to Fix iPhone Touchscreen Issues

Clean the screen

We know that it sounds dumb, but not many people do it properly. First of all, you need to switch it off before you start to clean the screen because you do not want to have to deal with permanent damage. You might want to use a microfiber cloth, a soft one. A towel is not a good idea because it can scratch the screen. The cleaners should not be sprayed directly to the screen, do it on the cloth and then wipe it gently, and make sure you do not press the screen too hard.

Remove the screen protector

Keep in mind that if the quality is not good, then the phone will not detect the touch of your finger. After you get rid of them, see if your screen works.

Charge the device only with its original charger

It might not be a good idea to use another charger than the original one. Those that are not original and that don’t have an MFI (Made for iPhone/iPad/iPod) certificate are destructive. This MFI program is a licensing program coming from Apple which addresses developers of software and hardware peripherals. After you charge your phone with the original cable, see if the touch screen works.

Restart your device

In order to do so, press the sleep & wake button for some seconds until the slider makes its appearance. Then, “Slide to power off.” After your phone shut down, wait for 30 seconds, then turn it back on by pressing the sleep & wake button until you see the logo of the company.

If your screen completely froze, you won’t be able to restart it this way. You need to force restart it. Press and hold the sleep & wake button at the same time with the Home button for 10 seconds until you see the logo. Then, leave it time to complete the process. After it’s done, check the touchscreen again.

Erase all the settings and the content or reset all the settings

You can only do this if the screen responds slowly. The iPhone touchscreen is still working, but it responds slower than it should.

Here’s how to reset it: Go to Settings – General – Reset – Reset All Settings. You will then have to enter the passcode, and tap Reset All Settings. Your phone will restart and reset all of its settings.

Here’s how to erase the settings and the content: Go to Settings – General – Reset – Erase All Contents and Settings. You will then have to enter the passcode, and tap Erase iPhone. Your phone will reboot. Then you will need to set up the iPhone as a new device.

Note: Before you do this, you need to back up all your data.

Hopefully, this short guide helped you fix the iPhone touchscreen issues and errors.
