WhatsApp has become quite popular over the years. This messaging app doesn’t pose the distraction that Insta gram has, for example. It is a simple internet messaging app that comes in handy in many cases. Whether you need to chat or video call with friends and family or use the app for business purposes, WhatsApp Groups does the perfect job.
The app also allows you to create group chats and be added to one. If you have been added to a group chat that you don’t want to be part of, you can simply leave. However, being added to a group chat means that your mobile phone number is exposed to everyone in that group. Even if you leave the group and block the admin, your phone number will still be availabe for the people who remained in that group.
If you care about your privacy, here are a few steps that you can follow in order to protect your personal information on WhatsApp Groups. To do so, you have to control who can add you to the group chats.
How to control who can add you to WhatsApp Groups
- Access WhatsApp on your mobile device.
- Go to settings.
- Select the Account option.
- Next, tap on Privacy.
- Select the Groups option.
- Next, you will need to choose from the following options: Everyone, My contacts, and My contacts except.
- Pick your choice and tap Done.
- Relaunch WhatsApp.
Note – Please note that if you choose to prevent certain contacts from adding you to a group chat, you still have the option to join the WhatsApp Groups if you want via a private link. That means that the person you choose not to add you to a group chat directly can send you a private link. You can then decide whether you want to be left out or not.
