The publisher of the widely played GTA series has just released an update regarding its incredibly awaited casino, Grand Theft Auto 6. The report could suggest that the game will be released next year.
One of the most anticipated games of the near future, GTA 6, has heard many rumors in the last few years, one of which claimed the game is emerging in 2019. It has also been rumored that the title will only be accessible on next-generation consoles, will have Vice City return, and be set throughout various time frames.
The cause of all the GTA 6 rumors was an anonymous post on Pastebin at the end of 2018. The post was reportedly written by a third-party developer that somehow put their hands on Sony’s plans for the PlayStation 5, and it claimed that the tech giant had paid a giant sum of money for a month of exclusivity for GTA 6, which would be a PS5 launch game. This particular leak is rather interesting because it got the information about the PS5 correct before Sony officially revealed them.
Therefore, the Pastebin post correctly said the PS5 would come with 8K visuals, ray tracing graphics, and be backwards compatible. The major detail, that GTA 6 would be a PS5 launch exclusive and that it would launch in 2020, is definitely one of the most impressive statements in the leak.
GTA 6 as the Launch Title for PS5
A new comment coming from Rockstar Games, the publisher of the game, may have said that GTA 6 could actually be released next year, as rumored. The gaming giant spoke to PC Gamer in an interview about Grand Theft Auto Online and what plans the publisher has for it.
Rob Nelson, co-studio chief at Rockstar North, said that there is still a large variety of new content to come to the game, adding that GTA Online will have a ‘year out.’
He said: “We try to keep plans going roughly a year out, but we want to have the flexibility to be responsive to any changes. So we choose not to telegraph that entire timeline to players. That said, players should feel confident that we have a ton of brand new ideas still to come.”
”It’s been six years, and we just hit record player numbers, and we are all incredibly grateful to everyone who’s been with us along the way,” he added.
The PlayStation 5 is also confirmed to have a launch date during the holiday season of 2020, but a November release has been heavily rumored. If GTA Online only has a year left in content, it should be sufficient DLC to keep players busy until the next-generation console is released. And if this will indeed happen, GTA 6 could come to PS5 at the perfect time to provide new online gameplay that fans will switch to.
All this is still regarded as a rumor, but if GTA 6 is actually a PS5 launch title, we will definitely find out quite soon. It is also rumored the PS5 will be announced during an important event in February, where the launch series could be revealed.
If this will happen, and Sony did pay the massive amount of money to get limited GTA 6 exclusive rights, then that is when the forthcoming GTA may be announced.
