Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL: This Feature Is Not About Security, but About Practicality

For Pixel 4 and 4 XL, Google has decided to forget about the fingerprint reader. Both of the devices come with facial recognition unlocking feature, which can also be used with your eyes closed. After many complaints from users, Google has come with a solution.

The software update for Pixel 4 XL will be here soon

This face recognition system what comes as a feature of the new Pixel phones, is one of the main features and the most important one out there. You can unlock your phone with your eyes closed, but people were not happy about it – they think it’s a huge security flaw. Think about this: someone can unlock your phone while you’re sleeping – they don’t even need to wake you up, because your phone gets unlocked just like that.

The company has taken into account this possibility from the very beginning, and it even specifies it in the screen, which appears when you activate this mode. With this feature, it is not about security, but about Practicality. But you have been warned. But for users, safety is the most critical aspect, so Google has tried to come with a solution to this problem.

The company stated that they have been working on an option for users: it would be mandatory for their eyes to be opened when it comes to unlocking the phone. This feature will come with a software update in the following months.  Until then, if any Pixel 4 users are concerted about this problem, they can activate a security feature that requires a pin entered, a pattern, or a password instead of the facial recognition system.
