Firefox 70 is Now Available With Privacy Improvements and More

Mozilla has released the latest update for its web browserFirefox 70, today. The update packs excellent features, including new privacy protections, impressive performance enhancements for macOS, and more. The main focus for the web browser developers is on privacy improvements and blocking trackers.

The previous year, Mozilla rolled out Firefox 63, featuring the Enhanced Tracking Protection functionality, which obstructs cookies and storage access from third-party trackers. Since that update, the browser’s developers have passed on its privacy options, and Firefox 70 keeps this going.

The new update incorporates social tracking protection. This blocks cross-site tracking cookies that come from websites such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Users can customize this feature as the native option is ‘balanced for protection and performance.’

If users set the Enhanced Tracking Protection to ‘strict,’ they will fruitfully block multiple trackers, and some websites may entirely break.

Another great feature the Firefox 70 comes with is a brand new privacy protection dashboard that shows users who is attempting to track them unknowingly. The feature also helps users stop them. Here are the exact words Mozilla used to describe this amazing feature:

“The Privacy Protections report shows an overview, with details, of the trackers Firefox has blocked. It provides consolidated reports from Monitor and Lockwise.”

In addition, Firefox 70 incorporates remarkable improvements for macOS, which power consumption and performance. The web browser’s developers say that the new update enhances power usage by three times or more for many use instances. This is possible because Mozilla changed the way pixels get to the screen, which enables the app to do less work per frame when only small areas of the screen change.

“The larger the Firefox window and the smaller the animation, the bigger the difference,” the company says.

The most recent version of Firefox is available for macOS and iOS in the App Store.
