Civilization 6 is the new replacement for Grand Theft Auto V on Epic Games Store as a free game, just like the rumors claimed it would be. The game, which typically has a price tag of $60, can now get for free until May 28th of this year, according to the store’s listing.
As with the Epic Games Store’s previous free titles, you can only get the game in that particular time frame, and after that, you can keep it. The deal comes a week after the platform’s servers crashed for more than eight hours because of the popularity of its last free game giveaway: GTA 5.
The popularity of that earlier deal should not be a surprise considering that Rockstar Games‘ title is one of the best-selling paid titles of all time, with only Minecraft surpassing it. However, it is still amazing that there are so many people in the world that have yet to play it on PC.
We should also mention that Civilization 6’s new season pass is also being released today, May 21st, providing players with six downloadable packs from now until March 2021, with new content rolling out on a bimonthly basis.
Civilization 6 was earlier rumored to be on the list of free games on the Epic Games Store, thanks to a screenshot posted on Reddit last week. However, the leak couldn’t be verified at the time. Considering that both GTA 5 and Civilization 6 have appeared as speculated, we can assume that Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and Ark: Survival Evolved will also end up in the list soon.
