Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Comes With No Multiplayer Mode

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered was finally made available on PlayStation 4, but it appears that it is only the campaign that has gotten a visual enhancement. There is no multiplayer mode in the installment, to the disappointment of fans and players that requested the feature for a while now.

In a blog post, the developer, Activision, noted that it decided not to release Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer mode as an individual pack and rather found the concept of launching additional ‘classic map experiences’ within the game in time more appealing.

“Rather than release a separate, multiplayer experience as a standalone pack, Activision and Infinity Ward are looking to bring more classic map experiences to new life within the Modern Warfare universe as it continues to grow and build over time,” the publisher said.

Modern Warfare 2’s Multiplayer Might Not be a Remaster

With the launch of Modern Warfare last year, the gaming studio said it started to concentrate on ‘bringing players together seamlessly in one unified online multiplayer playground.‘ The title supports cross-play between PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and all its DLC builds are free for every player. This move has been carried out in an attempt to keep the player base together.

Even though the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer mode might not be a remaster, a few of the title’s traditional maps are already available in Modern Warfare, including the incredibly loved Rust.

The launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered comes as a successor to Modern Warfare Remastered, which was made available back in 2016 through Premium versions of Infinite Warfare. It was then launched as an independent game, bringing both the remastered campaign and the multiplayer mode.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered was released first on PlayStation 4 as a limited-time exclusive title due to a collaboration between Sony and Activision. The title, which was developed by the publisher’s subsidiary Beenox, was made available on Xbox One and PC on April 30th, 2019.
