Call of Duty 2020 is Currently Under Development, Along With a Possible Modern Warfare Spin-Off

Activision is now expected to announce the next installment of the Call of Duty series. Fans hope that the new sequel is the rumored Black Ops that features multiplayer maps and some amazing other functionalities in the gameplay.

At the moment, there are no definite details regarding a Call of Duty for this year, but the Modern Warfare sequel has certainly been a massive hit on all platforms it launched; therefore, it puts a great amount of pressure on the upcoming title.

Dennis Durkin, an Activision representative, said that Modern Warfare would remain the best-selling Call of Duty installment on today’s generation of consoles. At an investors meeting, he also announced that the next build for Call of Duty would be released sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.

“We can’t wait to unveil what our teams have been working on, and we feel great about the content. Although, as is customary, we are prudently assuming lower sell-in for Q4 versus Modern Warfare this past year,” he said.

The statement doesn’t imply that we will get the next game of the series earlier than fans expected. It actually hints to a Call of Duty spin-off, which will apparently launch soon. Numerous rumors have mentioned a battle royale mode for the Modern Warfare sequel. There’s allegedly a section of the title’s menu that is reportedly reserved for this mode.

A Battle Royale Mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare?

The rumored battle royale mode for the game allegedly called ‘Warzone,’ is said to launch on March 10th. According to the rumors, the mode will be free to play, which means that fans do not have to purchase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in order to play the battle royale mode.

There’s been a leaked trailer of the expected Warzone mode, which Activision has made unavailable after it appeared on the web, citing copyright issues. The leaked video depicted the training ground of the mode, with an Armistice Training Facility.

Activision President and Chief Operating Officer Cody Johnson said: “So across console, PC, mobile and e-sports, the Call of Duty franchise has never been better positioned for growth, and there is more to come, including entirely new experiences within the Modern Warfare universe.”

This doesn’t confirm a Call of Duty spin-off, but it definitely says that the gaming studio is developing a Call of Duty installment, as well as working on something else. We’ll have to wait to see what that is.
