After teasing what fans should expect to see in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for this season, the first Summer Update is finally available. The new build gives players the ability to swim on waters and catch aquatic life beneath.
This Animal Crossing: New Horizons 1.3.0 update is the second major build for the game, and it brings some significant additions to the title, such as purchase Wet Suits, go diving for Sea Creatures in the ocean, as we mentioned above, a new special visitor named Pascal, new Mermaid Set furniture to create and Pirate Gulliver.
The open seas of the island are already accessible for every player to explore; however, it is not necessarily available from the start. Being a feature unique with the Summer Update, players have to run the game in its most recent version first.

Unfortunately, the patch notes do not provide much detail about the changes and additions in the game, besides noting that other adjustments and bug fixes have been made. Several glitches are still present in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, in particular those with villager houses, so we’re hoping some of those have been addressed.
Get the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 1.3.0 Update
If the game has not updated already, simply connect your Switch to the Internet, press on the ‘Start’ button on the ACNH icon, and choose to update. Then, you will get a pair of snorkels and masks from Nintendo as a special gift. However, this is not the entire equipment that will allow you to swim because you also need a wet suit to complete the gear and enjoy the island’s water.
There are numerous ways you could use to get a wet suit. You can choose to buy it via the Nook Shop, which will require a day for the item to arrive, or you can get instant access to the suit by purchasing it straight from the Nook’s Cranny for 3000 bells.
Take Your First Dive
With the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Summer Update now available and the required attire purchased, players can literally jump from any place of the island into the waters. Moreover, to explore the seas, you are also provided with a bit of space for yourself. This means you’re going to have a wider area to enjoy and dive into, which gives you a broader view of the isle.
The ability to enjoy the seawaters is an amazing part of the new update. Still, there’s also a significant use to it aimed at every completionist in the title, which is to catch marine life. Players can expect to spend some time in the water in order to catch sea critters for the in-game museum. Still, these creatures are not the fish players could already catch prior to the update. The side-quest has an expanded list of marine fauna, such as anemone, sea star, and garden eels.
Lastly, the Animal Crossing: New Horizons 1.3.0 update also introduces the Mermaid Set we mentioned earlier, which provides players with the ability to create seawater-themed furniture and items. To better use this feature, you should constantly interact with the new visitor, Pascal, which only gives you the recipes you need in exchange for scallops.
