As per a renowned and trusted industry insider, a new Resident Evil game is under works and will launch next year. However, it might not be the title you think it is, such as Resident Evil 4 Remake or any remake of the series, in fact.
It is not going to be Resident Evil 8 either, but a by-product title that is allegedly going to be unveiled in the near future. Moreover, it is reportedly going to be rather controversial because that is ‘by far the biggest departure the series has ever taken.’
The Game is Under Development Since 2016
The report has been made by insider and leaker Dusk Golem, who is known as a reliable source due to the previous accurate leaks it surfaced, more so when it comes to Resident Evil news. As per the leaker, the title started development back in 2016, which means that it has been worked on for quite a while.
“The 2021 Resident Evil game started development in late 2016; by the time it releases, it’ll have been in development for 4-4.5 years. [It’s] been in development, at the moment, for about for about 3 – 3.5 years,” said Dusk Golem.
“Its development is very similar to the original Resident Evil 3, not the remake, but I won’t expand on what I mean by that until later,” the leaker stated. “The announcement for it will be really soon, and it’s by far the biggest departure the series has ever taken, to the point I expect a lot of people will be pissed off about it when it gets revealed, but they should be open-minded. Internal testing and the like show it’s a high-quality game, and I’m quite excited for it.”
Obviously, this information should be taken with a pinch of salt because nothing that’s been said has actually been confirmed by the developers. However, besides the fact that the source is reliable, there are a few things that match up with other rumors about the next Resident Evil game surfaced on the web.
Until an official confirmation is released, make sure to check out Resident Evil 3 Remake that’s just been launched, on April 3rd, and is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
